In and around the town of Semporna with
its mainly Muslim residents, then to a tiny island in the Celebes
Sea. Name of island, if any, unknown. Migratory residents here
are the Bajau, known as the “Sea Gypsies”, like the Moken of
Thailand and other Southeast Asian islands and coasts. Then
a few frames on Sipadan. Under tight military control for years
due to piracy, movement on the island was restricted to beach
at dockside. (It was a required stopover between dives to register
with the well-armed Malaysian Marines running the show.)
